Tributes paid to former Austrian international after being hit by train

TRIBUTES have been paid to ex-Austria international Gerhard Rodax following his tragic death.

The 57-year-old was reportedly hit by a train in Traiskirchen and died on Thursday.

Rodax, who played for FC Admira Wacker Modling, Atletico Madrid, where he won the Copa del Rey, and Rapid Wien, won 20 caps for Austria.

The former striker played at the 1990 World Cup and scored against the USA.

But he retired at the age of 28, although he did make a brief comeback two years later.
