An “unknown ballistic missile” has been fired by North Korea off its eastern coast in the direction of the sea of Japan, said the South Korean military with tensions strained on the peninsula
North Korea has launched an “unknown ballistic missile” off its eastern coast towards the sea of Japan , South Korea’s military said.
It comes hours after the North threatened to launch “fiercer” military responses to the US bolstering its security commitment to its allies South Korea and Japan.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a brief statement that it detected the launch from North Korea but gave no further details like how far the weapon flew and where it landed.
Earlier on Thursday, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hue warned that a recent US-South Korea-Japan summit accord on the North would leave tensions on the Korean Peninsula “more unpredictable”.
