NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Darrell Brooks was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole for the attack on a Christmas parade that killed six people and injured 62.
‘This trial is unlike anything that I have ever been apart of – the sheer magnitude of the crime, the number of people impacted, how they were impacted, the sheer senseless nature of it,’ Judge Jennifer Dorow said. ‘It’s heart-wrenching.’
She continued: ‘It is clear the state had overwhelming evidence of Mr Brooks’s guilt. What’s also aggravating is his complete and utter lack of remorse.’
The judge said the sentence was decided based on three factors: punishment, protection of the community, and ‘what I hope is justice and closure for the families and communities at large.’
