NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
A soldier fatally shot a comrade during a training exercise because he ‘couldn’t see in the dark’, a court heard.
Private Conor McPherson was killed while taking part in a night-time drill in August 2016.
The unnamed soldier, who has been accused of firing the fatal shot, told the court he couldn’t see Private McPherson or the intended target because ‘it was pitch black’.
This is despite the fact he was wearing night-vision goggles.
