Fake builder preyed on frail Alzheimer’s patient and conned him out of £12,000

The fraudster took several cheques from the elderly man between 2014 and 2017, and was even spotted forcing his way into the property at one point to try and get more money from him

A fake builder who conned an Alzheimer’s patient out of £12,000 for building works he had no intention of doing has been jailed.

Martin Paul Jacks, 41, took several cheques from the elderly man after dropping by his home in Grantham, Lincolnshire numerous times over a three-year period to sell him building work.

The fraudster – who claimed he worked for a company called ‘Riverside’ – was even seen forcing his way into the property at one point to try and get more money from the patient.

Concerned neighbours then called police to the home and Jacks answered the door, reports Lincolnshire Live.
