Matt Hancock to cause upset as I’m A Celebrity star ‘favourite’ to win

Matt Hancock, who has arguably been one of the most controversial contestants on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in its 20-year history, has divided opinion during his stint on the ITV reality show. The latest odds suggest the disgraced former health secretary is edging closer to becoming a viewer favourite for being crowned the winner.Reports suggest the first elimination could come this weekend, and the politician is rated at 5/1 to be sent packing first. This makes him the third favourite for the first eviction behind Loose Women star Charlene White, whose odds stand at 11/10 and A Place in the Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas at 4/1.However, the mixed response to the politician is reflected in the betting on the eventual winner. The former health secretary has also been gambled into 6/1 from 33/1 with BoyleSports to be crowned king of the jungle, leaving only two names ahead of him on the list of most likely winners.READ MORE: Bruno Tonioli cries as Len Goodman shares Dancing with the Stars exit I’m A Celebrity: The latest odds suggest Matt could be crowned winner (Image: ITV) I’m A Celebrity: Matt’s casting in the show has been controversial (Image: ITV) I’m A Celebrity: Other campmates have opposed Matt’s appearance on the series (Image: ITV) I’m A Celebrity: Viewers are divided about the disgraced politician (Image: ITV)However, while some of his co-stars and fans of the show have warmed to the MP, many members of the public have taken a stand and sent a message all the way to the Australian jungle.Campaign groups 38 Degrees and Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice have taken to the skies to send Matt a message he can’t miss.A plane bearing a banner reading ‘COVID BEREAVED SAY GET OUT OF HERE!’ was flown over the ITV show’s base camp as a reminder to the West Suffolk MP.More than 44,725 people have now signed a petition set up by Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice on 38 Degrees’ website calling for ITV to reverse their decision to make him a campmate.DON’T MISS…Mike Tindall breaks royal protocol as he brands politicians ‘f*****s’ [LATEST]A Place in the Sun’s Jonnie Irwin in ‘dark place’ after being axed [LATEST]Richard Madeley sparks uproar with ‘out of touch’ hospital comment [VIDEO]Lobby Akinnola, who lost his father to Covid-19 said: “Matt Hancock isn’t a ‘celebrity’, he’s the former health secretary who oversaw the UK having one of the highest death tolls in the world from Covid-19 whilst breaking his own lockdown rules.’He’s the man we wrote to over a year ago asking him to pass over his private Gmail emails relating to the handling of the pandemic to the new health secretary in readiness for the Covid Inquiry.’He’s the man who didn’t even respond to us.’Lobby added: ‘He’s claimed the inquiry will set the record straight, but it can only get to the truth if it has the evidence it needs.
