'They have a perfect Christmas pictured in their mind of everything that they want and exactly how it is going to be, and then they try and work out how to do it. 'Please don't do that. That's likely to lead to debt or disappointment. 'Decide how much you are going to spend on Christmas this year and stick to it.' Martin Lewis is urging people to stop buying unnecessary Christmas presents amid the worsening cost of living crisis.
The Money Saving Expert founder told those who may be struggling with money to avoid getting into debt just for ‘one day’ in the festive period.
His warning comes just a day before Rishi Sunak and his chancellor Jeremy Hunt will unveil their Autumn Statement, expected to bring further misery to ordinary people.
‘Christmas is one day. We don’t want you to get into debt in the new year,’ the personal finance expert told viewers of his new ITV programme The Martin Lewis Money Show Live.
