Chelsea have been speaking with midfielder Mason Mount over a new contract for ‘a long time’ amid speculation over the England star’s future, according to reports. Mount has just 18 months remaining on his deal with the Blues. The 23-year-old’s future is considered a ‘priority’ by Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly. The Premier League club have apparently spent a long time trying to agree terms. There is no suggestion that Mount or his representatives are stalling during discussions. However, the Cobham graduate has been loosely linked with a move to Liverpool over the last year. A new contract remains under discussion but is not yet finalised. It is widely expected that Mount will pen an extension, despite criticism of his form this season from fans.
