Axed LIV golfer who ‘got the boot’ has career revival despite PGA suspension

Andy Ogletree has not played in an LIV Golf event since finishing last at their first one, but he has been able to revive his career on the Asian Tour’s International Series, thanks to its partnership with LIV

Former U.S. Amateur champion Andy Ogletree was among the first group of golfers to make the jump to the controversial Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series, featuring in their first event back in June.

However, after finishing last he has not played in another one of their events, with LIV signing up more big names like Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Cameron Smith. “I kind of got the boot because I played bad,” Ogletree admitted in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

“I wanted to play all of them. I was understanding that I was to play more than once. But after the great turnout they had, everyone seemed to want to play [LIV Golf]. I just didn’t take advantage of that opportunity.”

And with every golfer who featured in LIV’s inaugural event getting suspended by the PGA Tour, Ogletree’s only option was to take part in the Asian Tour’s new International Series, which was launched in partnership with LIV earlier this year.
