Danny Ings continues Aston Villa’s resurgence under Unai Emery with brace at Brighton

This might well become a Villa revolution under Unai Emery. His new club recorded consecutive Premier League wins for the first time since May in spite of the sort of early setback that might have shattered the players’ confidence not so very long ago.

Inside the first minute, a pass to Douglas Luiz from Emiliano Martinez was intercepted by Alexis Mac Allister who could hardly believe his luck, but he held his nerve to slip the ball past the Aston Villa goalkeeper from just inside the penalty area with Douglas Luiz complaining while sat on the turf. It was altogether a peculiarly sleepy start.

Mac Allister had been exceedingly nonchalant at the kick-off and the Villa players had been slow to even contemplate the press.
