(Image: Sky News)The Princess of Wales appeared deeply emotional as she took part in the sacred service honouring the fallen.Kate donned a sombre black outfit for her first service at the Cenotaph as Princess of Wales, and pinned a red poppy brooch on her coat. The royal stood proudly next to Queen Camilla in accordance with the pecking order and joined the rest of the Firm and the country in a two-minute silence at 11am.The respectful silence, marked by Big Ben, takes place every year at the same time the Allies and Germany signed the armistice that ended World War 1 in November 1918.During the service, the Queen Consort and the Princess were also seen exchanging a few words and smiles. The pair are believed to be on very good terms and, in the past months, have carried out a number of joint engagements while being accompanied by their husbands – King Charles and Prince William. The new monarch and the heir to the throne took part in the service as they placed their wreaths at the foot of the Cenotaph. They were followed by other working royals, including Prince Edward and Princess Anne.As it happens every year, other members of the Royal Family – including the Countess of Wessex and the Duke of Kent, looked on from the nearby balconies. This year’s service was surely particularly poignant for the Royal Family, as it was the first since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.Last year, the monarch missed the sacred engagement after having sprained her back. While she had previously skipped the National Service of Remembrance on six other occasions during her reign, this marked the first time she was forced out of it due to health reasons.MORE TO FOLLOW
