Unsung Afghan interpreters ‘are our own’ says British military veteran

Their faces are obscured, nameless participants in a war that now seems a distant memory. 

To their British comrades, however, they should be treated as our own. 

The Afghan interpreters stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Western forces, but their attempts to better their homeland ultimately ended in the dust and chaos of Kabul Airport. 

British Afghanistan veteran Andy Barnham and Dr Sara De Jong, senior lecturer in politics at the University of York, have produced an award-winning photography exhibition of interpreters living in the UK.
