My first encounter with the All Blacks was in 1972 at Hawicks’s Mansfield Park, where I watched in awe as Ian Kirkpatrick led the tourists to a 26-6 win over the Scottish Districts side.
I’ve watched the All Blacks countless times in the five decades since:. in Scotland, New Zealand, South Africa, France, England, Ireland, Italy and Japan. They have won World Cups, blown World Cups, produced many brilliant displays and the occasional dramatic collapse.
The one constant is that they have given the world great players – in every position. Their production line is one of the wonders of the sporting world. These are the best I’ve seen.
