Christmas markets issue warning for Brits as food prices set to rise this winter

German sausages, spiced mulled wine and hot roast pork rolls have all been hit by significant price increases amid high inflation and as many struggle with the cost of living

Christmas market prices are being hit hard by the same surging price rises that are fuelling the cost of living crisis.

This year’s Manchester Christmas Market promises to be a big return to festive form after two miserable years of pandemic social distancing.

Unfortunately the state of the economy – with inflation riding above 10%, and far more for some basic goods – has made the seasonal extravaganza a lot more pricey, the Manchester Evening News reports.

There are big increases year-on-year for hot sausages and gluhwein at the festive event.
