TalkTV host breaks down in tears over ‘touching’ John Lewis advert

It’s officially that time of year when companies start to release their feel-good and heartwarming Christmas adverts. On Thursday morning, John Lewis revealed their annual advert titled ‘The Beginner’. Playing the clip for the first time on his show, TalkTV’s Mike Graham was left in tears.Mentioning to his viewers there are a few reasons you can tell when Christmas is on its way, Mike said the John Lewis advert is one of them.Informing viewers the company picks a particular theme each year for their seasonal ad, the TalkTV host revealed he hadn’t yet watched it.Titled The Beginner, the one-minute and 30-second clip shows a middle-aged man learning how to skateboard as he struggles to get to grips with it.At the end of the advert, a young teenager is seen holding her own skateboard as she nervously enters her new foster home.READ MORE:The true story behind David Stirling’s injury in SAS Rogue Heroes Mike was emotional after watching the John Lewis advert (Image: TALKTV/JOHNLEWIS) The TalkTV host watched the advert for the first time with his viewers (Image: TALKTV) The TalkTV host said the advert was quite touching (Image: TALKTV) The advert shows a middle-aged man trying to learn how to skateboard (Image: JOHN LEWIS)Once the advert was over, he sniffed as he said: ‘That’s actually really good, isn’t it?’That’s made me quite upset, my god, that’s never happened to me before.’Viewers saw the TalkTV host take off his glasses as he wiped tears from his eyes.He added: ‘I’ve never watched a John Lewis ad and it’s actually made me tear up, that one did.”Highlighting what the meaning was behind the man learning to skateboard once again, the 62-year-old said usually he doesn’t enjoy the Christmas adverts.He said: ‘Wow, I think that’s a first. Usually, I watch these ads and go, ‘What a load of cr*p!”But that was actually really quite touching, must be because I’m a father I suppose.’It is one of those things at Christmas isn’t it where you get told you should think of people who are less fortunate than yourself.
