Former US president expected to confirm third presidential campaign on Tuesday in a ‘very big’ announcement at his Florida home
Donald Trump was urged to delay his 2024 announcement and avoid campaigning in an all-important Georgia Senate race by close advisers after disappointing midterm results cast doubt on his appeal.
The former US president is expected to confirm a third White House run on Tuesday in a “very big” announcement at his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago.
But senior advisers in the Trump orbit suggested he should postpone his candidacy until after a December 6 election in Georgia, which is set to determine the balance of power in the US Senate.
“I’ll be advising him that he move his announcement until after the Georgia runoff,” said Jason Miller, his longtime adviser who spent the night with the former president at Mar-a-Lago.
