Joe Biden celebrates US midterm ‘red wave’ failure

President Biden’s comments come after the Democrats defied expectations and Republicans did not take a large majority of seats as was predicted. The US leader spoke to reporters at the White House on Wednesday afternoon and said so far the midterm results were a “good day for democracy” and a “good day for America”.President Biden added the Democrat Party had a ‘strong night’ despite losing seats.He said: “We don’t know all the results yet, but here’s what we do know, the press was predicting a giant red wave and it didn’t happen.”The President also said although the current results show a “clear and unmistakable message to preserve our democracy” and added: “The American people have spoken and shown that democracy is who we are.”He added that “the voters were also clear that they’re still frustrated, I get it, it’s been a really tough few years for this country”.Mr Biden also spoke about former President Donald Trump’s unproven claim that the 2020 presidential election was rigged due to widespread election fraud, and said officials “did their job and fulfilled their duty… without any interference”. Very, very, very probably. Very, very, very probably.’
