Former President Donald Trump calls on voters to protest despite Capitol Hill shame (Image: Getty)Donald Trump has taken to his social media platform Truth Social to urge supporters to ‘protest’ after alleging technical issues had impacted voters in Arizona and other key midterm races. The news comes after officials in the Grand Canyon State reported voting machine malfunctions in about a fifth of Maricopa County’s polling locations.Writing on Truth Social, Mr Trump claimed: ‘Maricopa County in Arizona looks like a complete voter integrity disaster.’The ex-POTUS added: ‘The absentee ballot situation in Detroit is really bad. ‘People are showing up to vote only to be told, ‘sorry, you have already voted’.’This is happening in large numbers, elsewhere as well. Protest, protest, protest!’Mr Trump made similar claims about voter irregularity when he lost the 2020 US Presidential Election to Joe Biden by seven million votes. There has been no evidence to support Mr Trump’s suggestion that the last poll was ‘rigged’ in favour of the former Vice President. Mr Trump also encouraged them to ‘fight like hell’ and walk down to Pennsylvania Avenue before protesters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021.A Republican strategist and fundraiser suggested Mr Trump’s Truth Social posts were a “strategic” play looking ahead to his future plans.Noelle Nikpour told Express.co.uk: “I think he’s setting up the stage for whatever he’s getting ready to do. He’s very strategic. He’s building his case.”She added: “Most of his supporters are election deniers.”MORE TO FOLLOW…
