Exclusive: Liverpool are only one of the Premier League and Championship clubs currently seeking Wall Street investment
Liverpool join a long queue of English clubs attempting to capitalise on a multi-billion pound boom of American interest in the Premier League, Telegraph Sport can reveal.
In calling in Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as brokers, Fenway Sports Group clearly sees the US market as the best place to seek reinvestment.
But Liverpool are far from alone in testing the market after the apparent feeding frenzy around the £2.5 billion Chelsea sale. Glossy brochures on behalf of various different Premier League clubs are piling up on Wall Street desks.
One broker, who has seen the Liverpool paperwork, sent Telegraph Sport documents prepared on behalf of two other clubs, including Southampton. Rather than seeking a sell-off of shares, banks were instead invited to set a borrowing package for the south-coast club worth around £80 million against the club’s assets.
