Archie Battersbee’s mother asks coroner to investigate TikTok over his death

Hollie Dance says her son was ‘persuaded or peer-pressured online’ and examining the social media app is in the ‘wider public interest’

TikTok’s role in Archie Battersbee’s death should be examined by the coroner, his mother has said.

The 12-year-old suffered brain damage thought to have happened while he took part in a social media challenge at his home.

He died this August when his life support was withdrawn at the Royal London Hospital after his parents exhausted all available legal routes in their fight to keep him alive.

Archie’s mother, Hollie Dance, has told how she found him unconscious at home in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, with a ligature over his head on April 7.
