Elon Musk has urged Americans to vote for Republican congressional candidates tomorrow, in order to create a better balance of power in the US.
In a remarkable 11th hour intervention, the Twitter, SpaceX and Tesla owner said in a series of Tweets: “To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.
“Hardcore Democrats or Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who’s in charge!”
Mr Musk, the world’s richest man with a net worth of more than $200 billion, has been ambiguous with his political affiliation in the past, saying in August:Â “To be clear, I support the left half of the Republican Party and the right half of the Democratic Party!”
Previously, he said he has voted Democrat, but would, in future vote Republican.
