Remove ‘real tough stains’ from clothes with homemade hack

Laundry stains can be tricky to remove, especially if it’s a grease or wine stain. Most homeowners would grab a ready-made stain remover to remove the stains. However, these can be pricey, ranging from £2 to a’Biggest reason’ mice enter homes – ‘effective’ methods to deter thems much as £10.In an episode of ITV’s This Morning, presenter Anthea Turner shared some of her household hacks.One of her household hacks was removing stains from white clothing items.Anthea used bicarbonate of soda, also known as baking soda, and water to remove marks like grass stains from white clothing.She said: ‘You make it into a little paste like that – it looks like glue! If it’s a ‘real tough stain’, she suggested leaving the solution to sit for a while.’We put this one in the washer and you just put it in with your normal washing and maybe 40C, sometimes they need 60C, but it will come out,’ Anthea added.The hack also works on non-white clothing and doesn’t fade brightly coloured items.Anthea added: ‘It’s magic! Add your postcode below or visit InYourArea How to use baking soda to clean (Image: EXPRESS)However, bicarbonate of soda should not be used to clean certain materials.Antique silver, marble, ceramic, aluminium and gold-plated items should not be cleaned with bicarbonate of soda.Bicarbonate of soda can be found at the back of most cupboards, however, it does lose its potency over time.In fact, bicarbonate of soda must be used within six months. The longer it’s kept for, the less power it will have.
