Zappe stepped in as the starting quarterback for two full games and performed well, winning both and throwing for five touchdons to three interceptions. Jones then came back against the Chicago Bears, splitting time with Zappe who threw for a touchdown in the game. And Ringer CEO Bill Simmons, a Patriots fan who has largely been a big supporter of Jones, is now seemingly off the bandwagon. Speaking on The Bill Simmons podcast, Simmons said: "Mac, I don't know what happened to him. I have no answers. I really believed in him last year when he brought real things to the table - he had poise, get rid of the ball fast, great decisions, great reads and he could move around in the pocket. "He's a zero tool quarterback right now... he can't do anything well. He has no touch, he missed wide open guys (vs the Colts), he's not going through his reads and he's not moving around. Mac Jones has failed to reach the heights he set in his impressive rookie year "He's a bottom-five quarterback right now. I don't know if it will stay that way but that is how he is performing."
