US President Joe Biden last night stumbled on stage in New York, was heckled by a protester and doubled down on his pledge to stop drilling, despite the White House already walking back his comments.
In a chaotic speech from Yonkers, Mr Biden also had to stop mid-way through to seek medical attention for someone in the crowd who had fainted.
The President appeared in New York alongside incumbent Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul, whose double digit poll lead over Republican challenger Lee Zeldin has shrunk to just four points, with voters increasingly expressing their concern over crime rates in the Empire State.
The 11th hour intervention showed just how much trouble the Democrats are in ahead of election day tomorrow, with Mr Biden desperately crossing the country in a bid to shore up support for his party.
The Republican party, meanwhile, looks likely to face a seismic split in the coming days and weeks, after Donald Trump openly mocked his most probable challenger for 2024, Ron DeSantis, calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious” over the weekend.Â
