If you’re fixating on how to stay warm and cosy without switching on the heating (despite the temperature drop), you’re not alone.

Marks & Spencer reports that searches for thermals are up by 400%, dressing gowns up by 110%. Sales of its Teddy Fleece Hooded Blanket are up by 283% and it’s the most viewed item on the site. Its high tech Heatgen Fleece has also seen a leap by 340% from last year.

At John Lewis, sales of onesies are up 235%, while hot water bottle sales have surged 300%, as well as faux fur and slippers rocketing too. Danish brand Glerups, makers of sublimely cosy slippers, have seen a huge boom in sales across the whole of Europe.

Clearly, we’re hunkering down. Here, our two stylish fashion editors explain how to look chic and cosy – however nippy it is in your home.
