A cruise ship worker has offered a fascinating insight into what life is really like working out at sea, including an onboard code most passengers will be blissfully unaware of
Life working aboard a cruise ship certainly sounds glamorous to we landlubbers, but there is so much going on beneath the surface that the majority of passengers will simply have no clue whatsoever about. With this in mind, one cruise ship worker has now opened up an insightful porthole into life on deck, divulging some of the lesser-known aspects of her job.
Cruise ship employee Erica, who regularly shares content about her ocean adventures, and her co-worker Adam, have revealed there is in fact a ‘secret code’ used by workers during onboard medical emergencies, presumably to avoid causing alarm among passengers while out at sea.
In a video shared to TikTok, where Erica goes by the username @ericafromamerica, Adam revealed: “One of the onboard secret codes is Alpha, Alpha, Alpha, which means there’s a medical emergency onboard.”
In the same clip, which has clocked up more than 77.9k likes and counting, Erica added: “Cruise ships are legally obligated to carry body bags on board – and there’s even a morgue onboard.”
