‘My aunt wants her wedding gift back

A newlywed has refused to hand back the wedding present her aunt sent her after her family member admitted she hated the ceremony – even though she didn’t attend

For many couples who tie the knot, part of their wedding will see them receive presents from their family and friends who attend the big day, which are traditionally household items that the newlyweds can use in their marital home. But one woman has been asked to give back a present that she received on her wedding day – from someone who didn’t actually attend the main event.

The woman claimed her aunt sent her and her new husband a gift but was a no-show on the big day because she couldn’t make the trip, but when she heard that the woman had a “non-denominational wedding” without a priest present, she disapproved so much that she demanded the gift be rescinded.

In a post on Reddit, the woman explained her aunt accused her of not actually being married, and said she wanted the gift back because it was supposed to “celebrate marriage”, which she believed had not taken place.

However, the woman – and everyone else at her wedding – is firmly of the opinion that she is married, so she shouldn’t have to return a gift that was already given to her.
