Meet the family behind the British Hamper Company

Afternoon tea gift baskets and handmade pewter mugs prove popular in the Far East, UAE and Europe

With global demand for quintessential British luxury at record levels, the food and giftware firms blazing a trail for UK exports are expecting a hectic Christmas.

As a former rural surveyor, James Tod, who launched The British Hamper Company with his father in 2014, says that the passion that goes into the production of artisan jams or biscuits by small British farmers is unrivalled.

Already well established in the US – where the British Afternoon Tea Gift Basket featuring Earl Grey tea and Welsh toffee waffles is a firm favourite – exports to Australia, the Far East, the UAE and Europe are rising fast.

“The UK is already known internationally for the quality and provenance of its food and whether the target audience is vegan, gluten free, foodie or something in between, we believe our hampers set new standards in artisan luxury,” says James.
