 The new I'm A Celeb contestant will reportedly still be entitled to his MP salary of £84,144 while he is Down Under. I'm A Celebrity usually takes place over a space of three weeks, and if he remains in the jungle for the full length of the show, he will receive £4,841 from his MP salary, according to Evening Standard. A probe is being launched into whether the MP should receive his taxpayer-funded salary while in the jungle, as questions have been raised over whether he followed the rules on seeking jobs within two years of leaving office, reports Mail Online. When speaking of his role as an MP while he's on I'm A Celebrity, Hancock said: "As an MP, my first priority is to my constituents. I have agreed with the show's producers that I can be reached at any point on any urgent constituency matters." The Conservative Party suspended the whip after it emerged the former Health Secretary will be flying to Australia for the ITV hit show.
Despite losing the Tory whip, Hancock will remain as an MP for West Suffolk, a role he has been in since 2010.
After he has battled Bushtucker trials involving animal genitals and creepy crawlies, Hancock could possibly be voted out of the competition… or go on win the title of King of the Jungle.
