Timo Werner will not be included in the Germany squad for the World Cup after suffering an ankle injury in the Champions League this week.
The RB Leipzig striker started in the 4-0 win at Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night but suffered an ankle ligament damage early on, being substituted just 19 minutes into the game.
It has now been confirmed that he will not be fit to travel to Qatar with Germany this month and will be recovering for a number of weeks to come.
The former Chelsea forward tweeted: ‘A very tough one to take for me! I will be out for the next weeks, will miss the World Cup and will have to support @RBLeipzig and @DFB_Team from the couch unfortunately
