Showering every day is “really not important” and bathing often can strip the body of its self-regulating microbiome, explains hygiene expert Professor Sally Bloomfield
Most people shower first thing in the morning to freshen up, or just before bed as a way to wind down.
But one hygiene expert has claimed that washing every day is “really not important” and the main reason we do so is to be “socially acceptable”.
According to Professor Sally Bloomfield, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, bathing regularly simply wards off “nasty” body odour.
The health guru, who endorsed the Government’s hand washing campaign during the Covid pandemic, explained that from a hygiene perspective, washing isn’t necessary.
