MPs blasted Andrew Bridgen’s ‘cavalier attitude’ after Mere Plantations made a donation of £5,000 to his local Tory association – and he then approached ministers about the forestry firm
Tory MP Andrew Bridgen is set to be suspended from Parliament for breaching lobbying rules in a “significant litany of errors”.
The Commons Standards Committee found he breached the MPs’ code of conduct “on registration, declaration and paid lobbying on multiple occasions and in multiple ways”.
MPs said he showed a “careless and cavalier attitude” to the rules and made a “completely unacceptable attack upon the integrity” of the Standards Commissioner – a further breach.
The Committee found Mr Bridgen had an inaccurate entry relating to his advisory role with forestry firm Mere Plantations, for almost two years.
