Tory MP shames ‘inexcusable’ Home Office workers ‘not doing their job’

Home Secretary Suella Braverman has come under mounting pressure to address the crisis of migrants arriving in the UK through unsafe and illegal methods. Fresh attention was drawn to small boats carrying migrants across the Channel after reports detailed severe overcrowding and unacceptable delays at a migrant processing centre in Manston. As the migrant crisis has once again dominated much political discussion in recent days, Conservative MP James Daly declared much of the blame for the current situation came down to the ‘inexcusable’ actions of Home Office employees who have ‘not been doing their job’.Speaking on Times Radio, the Tory MP for Bury North said: ‘The ultimate responsibility relies with Government and Government Ministers.  ‘But, there are people working in the Home Office, and they have been working in the Home Office for a long, long time, who have not been doing their job.'[They] have not been delivering the system we needed, certainly in recent times.’Mr Daly made the comments as an active member of the Home Affairs Committee, which is responsible for scrutinising the work of the Home Office.
