World Wrestling Entertainment, known as WWE, has captivated audiences across the world with its dramatic fights between extremely muscular men and women – convincing many to believe their feuds were real.

The set-up like no other in sports entertainment first came about in 1953 and over the decades, has undergone various changes and spin-off events, including having changed its name from WWF. Today, WWE still has a legion of fans, with many remembering the iconic names of wrestlers who achieved legendary status – and even their own action-man figures.

Some of them have gone on to be huge stars away from the ring, with their own TV shows and leading roles in hit blockbuster movies. Other superstars turned their back on the promotion and now lead regular jobs, while some had devastating endings. Here we take a look at what happened to some of the WWE legends…
