50 Cent’s 10-word message as he says LA is ‘finished’ due to no-bail policy

New laws that came in back in May mean police won’t detain anyone if they are accused of misdemeanor crimes. Meanwhile anyone currently incarcerated on the charges will be released. The no-bail policy includes crimes such as theft, shoplifting, drug use, vandalism, battery and other nonviolent crimes. 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, is no stranger to the law, having a number of run-ins with the cops during his earlier days. Writing on Instagram , the 48-year-old said: “LA is finished. Watch how bad it gets out there. SMH (shake my head).” Along with the caption, the musician shared a TV segment about the no-bail ruling. The policy was first introduced during the coronavirus pandemic to ease pressure on jails. It expired in July 2022. But in May, a judge reportedly ruled the cash bail system was not constitutional, and brought back the order. San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin had previously criticised the cash-bail system as being something that benefits the wealthy. He explained: “This system means that people with money can ‘buy’ their way out of jail, no matter what their charges, while people without enough money are stuck in jail simply because they cannot afford to buy their freedom. “This system is not only unfair but also does not protect public safety. After all, someone’s financial status has no connection to their likelihood of coming back to court or of committing another crime.”
