After an extravagant unveiling as an Inter Miami player, Lionel Messi has got down to work with his new teammates as he and Sergio Busquets trained for the first time on Tuesday
After weeks of waiting, Lionel Messi is finally down to business as an Inter Miami player with his first training session on Tuesday.
The Barcelona and Argentina icon was unveiled as a Major League Soccer player at an extravagant ceremony at Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday, more than a month after first agreeing to sign for the club co-owned by David Beckham.
Messi, 36, joined his new teammates for the first time at the team’s training ground in the shadow of the stadium, with reporters packed in to cover a historic moment in the league’s history.
Messi will have to wait more than a month to make his MLS debut with Inter turning their attention to the Leagues Cup played between American and Mexican teams, and the former Paris Saint-Germain star could make his debut on Friday against Cruz Azul. Inter face MLS rivals Atlanta United in their second and final group game on Tuesday, with the top two teams reaching the knockout stage.
